I enjoy those ragtime files. They serve as teacher to me since I am self taught at the piano. I would like to know more about Scott Joplin. Any suggestions on what to read or where to go on the net for a full biography? Why did he die so young?

This is a wonderful website! Maybe Joplin's greatest rag (how can we really even coceive such a notion, with all his work to choose from, and each with our own tastes) is the Magnetic Rag. It is also true that A Real Slow Drag deserves more familiarity. But my favourite has become the Weeping Willow. Play it at about 70% normal tempo ... it really is just so sweet. We owe Stark for his efforts to promote "Ragtime that is different", and Jeffery for this site! Gregour.

I played some of Joplin's works as a teenager and I was browsing for midi files so I could listen to them and start learning how to play some of them again. I play mostly by ear and so hearing them helps me thru the sight reading. Thanks for your posting. I will probably download some of your midi's in the future. I am just setting up my computer with a Real Piano from General Music. Soon I will be able to play midi files thru that keyboard.

Joplin ragtime is one of my favorite forms of music. I had copied various songs from different places on the WWW. I especially like your site where I can download a lot of his songs in one file. And they seem to be consistent in the way they are performed from song to song. I use MidiPlus as a player to play music in the background while I work on my computer. Keep up the good work!! I remember player pianos (I'm 55) in the mid 40's. Love marches (West Point concerts) Summer recitals in Sunday, real dances (waltzes) and live bands. All gone now. Have to figure out how to get these recording on this Aptiva Computer. Here there is nothing but redneck junk locally available.

I just got interested in RAGTIME music and love it and enjoy the music on your Page. Thank you very much for taking the time to put it up and let me download the MIDI files. I am from Buffalo, New York but will be going to Toronto, Ontario to see the Play RAGTIME at the end of AUG. 1997, so I should get a lot of RAGTIME exposure then. You asked for suggestions. 1. Get rid of the frames or have a option to get rid of them 2. have a option where you can play some of the music and not just download one big file or many small files. When you play the music you can download it at the same time and put it in your download directory. 3. Add line for email address and add line for URL if the persion needs one. the other way is very confusing and people will write nothing rather then look foolish. 4. I always enjoy seeing pictures of the people that put up the page and would like to know where you are from ... (City & State & Country) My home page is http:www.localnet.com~rmarkwar Thanks for being there with the ragtime music.
